Refractive Lens Surgery

Dos and Don'ts after surgery

Patients having refractive lens surgery will be given personalised instructions before they go home. In general, I will have implanted the new lens through a small incision which will be very strong, but probably, for the first week after the operation, I will ask you to wear a sheild on the eye at night time to prevent you rubbing the eye when half asleep. After a week, the shield can be discarded and the eye should be treated as normal. From one week after surgery, there should be no restrictions on activity, indeed I would encourage you to resume all normal activities.
